Edible Cameos!

If you recall from my birthday post I had these candy cameos on some cup cakes. I made them myself from a mold I bought online for cheap. Here's how!!
So what you need is the mold, obviously, candy melts in 2 colors, and if you want to get fancy, a squeeze bottle! The pair I bought from Hobby Lobby were like $3 normally but you can get it cheaper with their coupons.
The cool thing about the Make 'n Mold bottles is you can microwave them! BUT I found it easier to melt the candy then pour it in the bottle.

And away you go! Fill in the faces with white and let it harden in the freezer for a couple of minutes.
After the faces are hard, fill in the rest with color number two, in my case I picked pink.
When the whole tray is full give it a gentle shake to smooth it out. Then pop it in the freezer again to harden!
And there ya go! There are TONS of cute candy molds online, go crazy.

Moore Easter Cookies Please!

My bestie Meg, left the Big Apple for Easter so her family got all the tools out to make their traditional decorated sugar cookies. I think the secret is don't be shy with the flour!
We piped the icing on with piping bags and tips, but soon realized that the holes in the tips were too big so we just snipped the corners of the bags off!
Go Macy Go! :) She really is crazy fast at it, notice the 2 different paint brushes on her plate in addition to the bag! OH and the sprinkles!
It's super fun and they looked super cute.
Some looked a little more creative than others. Guilty. I am still in the mood for making some beautiful cookies. I found a cupcake shaped cookie cutter at Hobby Lobby (the promise land) for 75 cents! Here are some great sites for cookie decorating.

Amazon's Wish List Tool

Something you MUST know about! Amazon has this cool thing called the Wish List. All you have to do is go to Amazon.com and download it, then you put the button in your tool bar or whatever that's called (technical instructions right?). Well, if I could figure it out, you can too.
After you have the button installed, whenever you are online shopping, and are looking at a particular item, you just click "Wish List" and a window pops up for you to fill out the quantity and so forth. And there ya go! If you want to see your whole wish list or send it to someone you just go back to Amazon.
Again, I figured it out, you can too. Super cool way to keep up with the stuff you have your eye on. Plus the stuff doesn't have to be from Amazon, ANY store works, even Etsy!

Your welcome!

HomeGoods StyleScope - I'm a Glamorous Classic

Since I plan on moving back home to Van this summer, I have had interior decorating on the brain. I am so fickle and unsure about what I like style-wise. So I found a couple of online quizes but this one from Home Goods hits it right on the head! According to HomeGoods StyleScope - I'm a Glamorous Classic.

"You go for rich materials like velvets, one-of-a-kind objects, lady-like touches, glimmering accessories, and a sense of old-Hollywood romance that makes your home dramatic and elegant."

Um, YES! Except for the velvet, eww. These are my "Happy Home Colors", I do love blue but I need to see them paired with other colors to understand more. I do know my kitchen will be red and aqua but I don't think I want that repeated in the living room.

"You have a refined sensibility with an appreciation for history and tradition in your furniture and your rooms. You value beauty and craftsmanship."

...Tee Hee, "crafts"!

So now I feel confident to go forth and start getting ideas for my first real apartment!

It's a fun quiz, what style are you? :)

"No smoking please!" or "Shout out to my annoying day"

To the "cool guy" in your tiny Porsche in front of me on my way to school:
Please don't smoke. Why do you need to flick your cigarette every two seconds? Oh yes, thats right, I counted 1 Mississippi 2 Mississi-flick. Your odor invades my air conditioner and thus my NOSE! Cigarette venom is poisonous and just plain ridiculous! Your car's interior never stood a chance.

To the world's worst desk:
I have tried to imagine just why someone would design such a hideously uncomfortable desk, but alas, I cannot. Normally I get to class early enough to switch the desks and get one less contemptible but thanks to Mister Tobacco, I didn't get to swap. All class long, I twisted and turned, crossed and uncrossed, slumped and straightened to no avail. I hate you.

To the girl behind me and her gum:
DON'T SMACK!!! I WILL KILL YOU IF YOU KEEP SMACKING! Ask my brother.

To the Chatty Cathy's in the back of class today:
This is college honey. Not 8th grade pre-algebra. Stop chatting when the Professor starts talking. If you are waiting for someone to spell it out for you, here ya go- SHUT YOUR PIE HOLES or GET OUT! Again, this is college.

Thats about it, the day is done, King if the Hill is on, my embroidery is calling!

Baby Dedication Tag

Leslie's friend asked me to embroider a little tag for her daughter's baby dedication dress. What a cool idea!

The finished product. It's 4x4 inches on muslin.

The pattern... pretty good if I do say so myself!

Chocolate Mistake Cake

Hello dear reader. Do you love chocolate as much as the Snow's do? Maybe. Well, I decided to make a chocolate cake last night for the folks. I found a simple, normal, chocolate cake recipe from Martha's website, not wanting to try anything new or fancy I got started.
Eggs, milk, cocoa powder ect.
But wait, did I put in 2 or 3 scoops of flour? Crap I don't remember!
Oh well, surely it won't make that big of a difference!
HA!
The worst thing I have ever baked probably.
I touch it and it breaks into a crumb pile! UGH!
But you know what? Thats ok! I see it as a blessing. What if I had an occasion to make cake for someone other than my family? And I had put my blind faith in Martha, producing this cake? Not a pretty picture. So, thank you Lord for getting this experience behind me! Now I know, be careful!

"Vegan Awesomeness" or "It Was Just Like Cheese!"

Last weekend the college group from church, back home in Van, went to the Passion Conference at the Fort Worth Conf Center. Well, Colleyville is a hop skip and a jump on 635 away from everywhere so I had to meet up with them!Allison knew of this Vegan spot for lunch, Spiral Diner. Being lactose intolerant, when I see dairy-free foods, I get a little giddy.

I really don't like veggies so a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle just would not suite me... it would be quite depressing when I think about it. I guess all I would eat would be fresh carrots, corn and broccoli... I like salad, but that requires Caesar or Ranch dressing which is milky, so salad is out... squash needs butter, you get the idea.
Well, it was still fun to see all the animal free food they offer, I was shocked to see things like "Chicken less salad sandwhich" and "Sketti meatballs" and "I scream" all without anything that comes from an animal!
We sat outside because it was a MARVELOUS day! Allison and Caitlin shared the nachos, which were DELICIOUS! Not a single onion or other "black listed veggie" of mine.
Now, MY fav thing was my nacho plate. The cheese is some magic concoction of cashews and flavor! IT WAS JUST LIKE CHEESE! I will find this and stock it up in my fridge.
My bro the barista, made me a latte with almond milk a long time ago and it was so sweet by itself, I didn't add anything to it like flavor syrup or splenda. Guess what kind of lattes they made? Soy or Almond! YUMM!!
Normally, I have to take a little white pill that has the lactase enzyme my body decided to stop producing that breaks down lactose... thus intolerance. Well, it can get a little annoying and embarrassing especially when I am out with people who don't know why I am popping pills at the dinner table. So a meal that requires no dietary supplementation on my part, it a happy meal for Lee Lee!

My new toy! Well, it's a book, but it's fun!

I FINALLY got a copy! Aimee Ray from Little Dear Tracks designed the goodness inside! If you will remember I participated in the Stitch A Long and made these from the free patterns she provided out of this book!

I am hoping that I will be able to use her designs for the apron's of my dresses on Etsy. Since I don't want to go to jail for craft-copyright-infringement I asked her if this was ok, so wish me luck!

Randomosity with Lee Lee

Just a bit of random things:

1) I think if there was a straight 24 hour "Gilmore Girls" episode I could watch it on my couch without moving or feeling guilty. "Candy Ship, Battle Land: War never tasted so good!"

2) The toilet paper in the Art building smells like film developer chemicals.

3) My craft supplies are named after the Greek gods and goddesses. More on THAT later!

4) Finishing a book always leaves me depressed, like let down after a slumber party when your 9 years old.

Embroidered Book Covers!

Classic lit+Hand Embroidery= happy

Penguin books is releasing three novels that have been designed by Jillian Tamaki... not only designed but HAND EMBROIDERED by her! Check out the website here. So take a gander at the cover art below. Of course Emma gets top billing, interesting choice with the rainbow hair, but her stitching is divine!

Bookworm

I mega HEART half priced books. Right across the highway from North Park Center, the world's best mall, is the world's biggest HPB... not really, but it's really big. The other night we all got in the car and headed on over, and so my tale begins...

Saw this in the children's section... so sad. Just insulting.
Also found these kid's versions of Greek Myths... guess who's kids are gonna have these read to them at bed time? Mine!
How fun is this?! I know, you could care less... but I can't help myself.
I did find this bit of fun! Please understand that I am not some desperate freak trying to, as Jane would say snare a husband I just think its funny. :) So... not a freak.
Got this also, its a charm book from the 30's and so cute. Not really relevant in 2011 but still neat!
Shannabee and I went to Barnes & Noble looking for one book but I found 2 new ones I NEED!

and...
I love fun books!
