Summer Towel Crafts and BIG plans

Check one off my bucket list! I am organizing a Craft/Bake sale!!!!! The best thing EVAH!!! All the booths fees will go to breast cancer funds. Planning this event has been the most empowering thing (apart from my New York trip, shout out Meg&Am). More details to follow!

I am coming out with a line of baby things. Alot of ladies in my life are in need of such things.
Thanks to my muse, aka Martha Stewart, I go the instructions for this
portable diaper changing pad made from a hand towel.
It folds in thirds and ties with a ribbon. Some are made with
velcro but I think that can be noisy when changing a sleeping
baby and can scratch. So ribbon it is!

The changing side is the towel and the outside is a matching
fabric with one pocket for wipes and a diaper and a
second for diaper cream. The rose came from our
garden (some may call it a patch of shrubs in our yard).
Then second is a staple for all beach goers. A draw-string towel tote!
Years ago I made a towel bag with a removable
bamboo handle but it was rather pathetic when you put stuff
in it, and after all what else is a bag for?

All you see above: stunna shades, keys to my ride,
Persuasion (any Austen novel will suit) and a
water bottle fits in to the bag with room to spare.
And, it looks like it should!
I have all kinds of bright summer colors and I plan to make some
out of Aggie maroon and UT orange so the rivals can duke it
over who looks the best this summer. :)

Great Hair Day

It really was for once! I actually put forth effort in my appearance and the result was most agreeable. Sadly though, I must confess it did not sustain its graceful form, for you see the howling gale that blew from the contemptible abyss sought only to ruin me! Blackguard!

I do not think I have been so ill in all my life as I have been this past week. No seriously I was puking like a drunkard. AND I had a horrendous sinus headache for like 4 days straight. So whenever I would dunk my head to puke, my brain would scream at me. Not nice. The puking stopped after 12 friggin hours and the headache is receding famously.

I went to Terrel High School to day to see the first competition for my old High School's Theatre department. They did The Caucasian Chalk Circle which is what we won state with my senior year. The play is... interesting. But I know they will advance onward.
Before I stepped outside to get my beautiful hair destroyed an order I was waiting for finally came. I ordered 3 photographs I had taken to be printed and mounted. They are LOVELY! And I want to start shooting for reals now and see if any one likes what I see through my lens.

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of... Part 1

NEW YORK!!

What can I even say about my trip to New York? It was too short, thats what. All my allergy crap disappeared so that was awesome. We were nonstop from the time we woke up to the time we fell asleep listening to the street sounds out side their windows. I know all old houses are like this but its cool to wonder about the families that lived there decades ago listening to the same sounds. Meg and Am live in Washington Heights and their charming apartment over looks the Washington Bridge. Its huge!

this is going to be my room with my very own boiler!!

Long story short, my mom, sister and I play this crazy game where we hide this scary cat doll around the house and see who finds it first, so naturally Mrs. Chuzzlewit found her way in my suitcase.
She wanted to come see "Rock of Ages" with us which was SOOO AMAZING! Meg, I will see it with you anytime.
The Chuzz wanted the Coach bag I risked my life in China Town to get from my sister. It was so fun but mostly scary. We went to the back of a seedy store where the guy opened up a book case and lead us down rusty stairs to an outside courtyard. I was sure I was about to be drugged and trapped at this point but then it got even scarier when he took us into the back of another building. I knew I was about to die. But the building was just a beautiful room stuffed with purses! La!

This was the view coming up out of the subway heading home after a long hard day of walking around the town... but, you have to battle 5 flights of stairs to get home. No yellow brick road.

There was a yellow brick road here though!! Front row center at "Wicked"! Me and Meg saw every pore on the actor's faces. The picture above it the clock of the time dragon that hangs over the apron of the stage. When it roars and flaps its wings I swore it was going to fall and crush us.

We tried to get into SNL but no luck. I had 2 pairs of sock, 3 pants and 5 tops on and I was still freeeeeezzing. All four of us were wore out, me, Meg, Am and Am's hangover. I think we got in line at like 3am and left around 7am maybe?

But I must say the best part of my trip was meeting and kissing Rob.

New York Baby!

Finally! I will be taking a vacation! I would have chopped off my right hand to go to NYC in high school and now I can! I am nervous about getting on the right plan and shuttles and AHH! I am the worst with details. THE WORST! It's going to be great to just relax. My mid terms will be over and when I get back to texas I will have Funk Finds and spring break to look forward to.

Am I still living in texas? 2 snow falls this year! it's been wonderful!
The snow clung to the tops of the grass and weeds in our yard and made ice flowers.

I am working on journals for the show and am a bit nervous that I won't have very much merch. I found a cool tutorial on making displays for shows. I stole some doors from the trash pile at the end of our road and I am so excited to decorate them but I can't decide how... blank canvases are so intimidating. My journals are getting better and better. I use the left overs to make little "Demi" books. they are so small and cute I may like them better that the regular ones. I hope they look cute to customers too.

I love the chabby chic fabric flowers that are on everything handmade right now so I tried an experiment and I think they turned out pretty sweet. I call them Flirty Flower Bobby Pins. I hope mom's will want them for their little princesses.
I am trying my hand at growing basil and lavender. They are actually growing!! AHH. I am not much of a green thumb but its soo much fun do see little green thinks peaking out at me everyday.

Greek Geek

I'm 23! I'm old!

What is sexier than a Greek hunk? Well just sit your fanny down in front of "My Life in Ruins" and enjoy! Its my new fav and I think I have watched it like 5 times in 2 days, yeah I have no life. There is just one shot of the Parthenon and it lasts like half a second but it made me tear! What a nerd! Ancient ruins make me misty eyed. The whole movie is like an Art HIstory student's study guide mixed with one of the best love stories. Its the best because its sooo sweet and no stupid plot line where one hurts the other or mistaken identity or something stressful like that. Boy meets girl and they fall in love. Its a refreshing movie. Watch it Meg and Amber. Meg, Harland Williams is in it and WE KNOW HIM sorta.

I have had a break thru in crafting!!! FINALLY I think I found my niche in the handmade world! Bookbinding! Its soooo fun and I have 3 that are ready for Funky Finds in March. I don't get tired of making them so thats good cuz one takes like an hour to finish. So I make mini...(I'm watching My Life in Ruins right now and my Greek God just melted me with a little grin and gorgeous eyes whimper) any way what was I saying? Oh yes, mini journals $15-20 and full sized $25-30. I plan to take them to local book stores and other coffee shops and see if they will sell them. I say other coffee shop cuz the one I have sold my soul to back in 2005 wont sell them even tho they WILL get bought and bring in more money. But am I bitter, naw.
Oh there is also a sexy Australian in this movie.
Nope my Apollo is sexier. Dare I say it? SEXIER than Edward!!! GASP! tis true. I will marry a Greek or Italian man. Meg and Am, he resembles a gentleman who I will not name here, I think you can figure out who I mean. I would still take Mr. X over Mr. Greece. La.

Make something. You'll feel better.

Good day today! Spent the whole happy! I realized that I have not been all that happy when I spent the whole day enjoying everything I did. I won't bore you with the details but I simply did things I planned and things I wanted to do. How spoiled am I?

I started and finished a project which turned out perfect! My original project was a sewn desk organizer from "In Stitches" by Amy Butler which I bought recently and is full of the cutest things, you try and not be inspired to sew. FYI I hate sewing! So I gave up on the desk thing cuz it was a mess and started a frame/ribbon organizer thingy instead. Good choice.

I am going to do 2 more craft shows that are in April 10th -11th and May 8th. That gives me 3 months in a row! OMG! Thats 3 times as many as last year! I am really working on making my stuff as impeccable and professional as I can. But I constantly think up something new and that slows me down. Risk worth taking to find my niche. I do have a clue as to what my niche is, and that clue is paper and fabric sans the machine. Its the machine that I hate about sewing. Bleh.

I am close with a couple of home schooling families whom I cherish. One mom asked me if I would consider teaching her kids a craft once a month or so. I have been thinking and thinking about it and I like the idea. Maybe we could get all the kids in her circle and have Arts and Crafts with Ms. Alicia. I am looking up substantial crafts that would further their art appreciation and still be fun. Any ideas?

College, Crafts and...hmm Coffee

Thats my life. 3C's.

College is coming to an end for me, sorta. I have it planned out so I graduate in December but NONE of my college plans EVER go how I want. But I am taking 3 classes this semester, I hope to take 2 or 3 this summer and then 4 or 5 in the fall. Then what?

Crafting is my blood, its my air. I have Funk Finds in March which is AWESOME! So pumped. There is a show in Addison in May that I want to do, but they require a tax permit... (scary
music here). Getting my sales tax permit is something I have thought about for a year or so, but I always shy away from it because I know NOTHING about Taxes other than the Sheriff of Nottingham squeezed tax money out of the poor peasants in Robbin Hood. BUT I did it! I filled out forms and am an official
Sole Proprietor of AJSnow. AHHH How scary!

I pick January 25th 2010 as my first taxable sales date because it is one of my best friend Amber's birthday and the date that a close friend died so it will be an important date for me.

Coffee is fun to drink and fun to make. Not so, however, when the coffee ship (oops I mean shop) you work at serves 90% food and 10% espresso. I am NOT a cook. I am a barista. I can make coffee, I want to make coffee. I cannot make meals, I do not want to make meals. BLAH!
